Moment primary school pupils stormed the streets to protest against ASUU strike

  • Pupils of Sunshine Nursery and Primary School, Ile-Ife, Osun State have protested against the ongoing ASUU strike
  • The pupils matched to the main gate of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) to kick against the lingering strike

Some brave pupils of Sunshine Nursery and Primary School, Ile-Ife, Osun State, recently expressed their displeasure over the ongoing ASUU strike.

Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) ASUU has been on strike over federal government’s failure to fulfill an agreement about salaries of lecturers and funding of universities.

After months of lingering ASUU strike, the pupils moved to the main gate of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Monday in protest against the strike.

While being led by their teachers, they sang solidarity songs in support of ASUU and held up their placards calling on the Federal Government to put an end to the strike.

The placards had different inscriptions including “I am the future ASUU, make no mistake about it,” “Adamu Adamu are you there?,” “Don’t borrow our future away”.

Uproar as children not older than 5 are used in street protest (photos)

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that business along Mbagathi road was brought to a halt on Monday, May 15, by pupils from Kenyatta Golf Course Academy.

The pupils block a section from Mbagathi road in protest over the demolition of their school. Photos making round on social media show the pupils on their desks on the road.

Section of social media users reacted saying using the young children in the protest is wrong. Others questioned whether the parents were consulted before exposing their children to danger on the busy road.
