2023: Atiku faces stiff opposition in Northeast as youths back Tinubu’s presidential bid

  • The presidential ambition of the PDP flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar is threatened, a few months ahead of the 2023 general election
  • This is as Borno youths came out in their thousands to back the presidential ambition of Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima in Biu LGA of the state
  • Following this particular development, Tinubu is likely to get a huge vote in the Northeastern part of the country come 2023

A group of youth called under the aegis of Amana Forum on Thursday, July 28, held a solidarity rally in Biu Local Government Area of Borno in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima.

Ahead of the 2023 election, a massive crowd shuts down the local government as youths in their thousands lined the streets in solidarity for Tinubu and Shettima, PM News reported.

Shettima thanked the youths

Sharing photos from the rally, Tinubu’s running mate, Shettima thanked the group for their support.

He said:

“Your support for our party, the All Progressives Congress and our presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is well acknowledged and appreciated. Thank you Biu and thank you Amana Forum.”

Meanwhile, the youths described Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, as the face of the change Nigerians had been waiting for while maintaining that the duo should be given a chance in May 2023.

Nigerians react

Nigerians in their usual reaction aired their views on the development.

On the official Facebook page of Legit.ng, some condemned the move by the youths as others urged the youths to vote wisely in the forthcoming general election.

Sirx Uzoma said

“Anybody who wants good government will vote Labour Party 2023.”

2023: Ex-minister Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba asks court to disqualify Tinubu, Atiku

Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, and a group, Incorporated Trustees of Rights for All International, have filed an originating summon before a Federal High Court in Abuja seeking an order declaring Nwajiuba as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The immediate past minister for education and the group are also praying for the cancellation of the votes garnered by the presidential candidates of the APC, Bola Tinubu; and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.

The first to sixth defendants in the case with suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/942/22 are: the APC, the PDP, Tinubu, Atiku, the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

2023: APC support group meets Kashim Shettima

Meanwhile, leaders of an APC support group, GYB Network 4 Asiwaju, recently met with Senator Shettima, with assurance of full support.

During the meeting, the group’s leaders led by its Kogi state coordinator, Alhaji Haddy Ametuo, briefed Senator Shettima on their activities and the plan to ensure victory of APC presidential ticket during the 2023 general elections.

While Ametuo is the group’s coordinator, the incumbent APC deputy national publicity secretary Hon. Murtala Yakubu Ajaka is the national coordinator of the group.
