Angry youths protest hardship, stone officials during Buhari’s visit in top northern state

Angry youths took to the streets in Katsina state to express their anger regarding the harsh realities they are faced with current in the country.

They staged a protest as President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday, January 26th, commenced a two-day official visit to his home state, Katsina where he inaugurated some projects executed by the state government, Aminu Bello Masari.

The Punch reported that his first day in the state was marked by the protest by the youths decrying the hardship in the country.

Why the youths are angry

The youth staged the protest a few minutes after noon, shortly after the President inaugurated the Kofar Kaura Underpass in Katsina.

The protesters caused a commotion at the Kofar Kaura Underpass where they threw stones at the crowd after Buhari left the area.

The boys also set up bonfires along the Yahaya Madaki Way, a few metres from the underpass, while shouting: ‘We don’t need you,’ ‘We no go do,’ in Hausa.

They were subsequently dispersed with tear gas by security personnel.

Powerful northern governor declares work-free days, gives reason

Meanwhile, Governor Bello Masari of Katsina State declared a two-day holiday for the state’s civil servants.

Legit.ng reported that Masari declared Thursday, January 26 and and Friday, January 27, as work-free days for workers to enable them turn out en masse to receive President Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari arrived in Katsina on Wednesday night, January 25th, from Dakar, Senegal after attending an international conference on agriculture.

“Tinubu’s Wife will be in charge if he becomes president”, Naj’atu Muhammad alleges

In another report, a former senator representing Kano central, Naj’atu Muhammad said that the wife of the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be in charge of Nigeria if the latter is elected president.

She made this disclosure on Wednesday, January 25th, during a programme on African Independent Television (AIT).

According to The Cable, the former senator had recently announced her resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
